It is Okay if We Sometimes Fail to Meet Goals

by Julie McElroy on April 23, 2010

Oh no!  I have noticed that I already broke one of my 2010 writing goals!  Writing twice weekly in my blogs.  Actually, it was my first written goal.  Oops!!

The last few weeks have been quite hectic in my life and I want to apologize to my readers. No excuses.  I know.  But, remember one of my other goals was to not worry about being a perfectionist. Is that number ten goal my 'get out of jail free' card?

I am not sure.  But, I think so in this instance.

Is it being a perfectionist if you beat yourself up when you fail to maintain a goal?  Or is it just being a failure if you do not maintain the goal? Is the 'perfectionist goal' in there to allow for failures or more to keep my sanity when I do fail?

Yes, I think it is important to stay on task and try to stick with your goals.  However, it truly is not the end of the world.  Sure, there may be a couple readers that fall of my subscriber list because I failed to meet one of my ten laid out goals.  But, I hope that my true fans will understand that I am actually only a human being. Maintaining this blog by myself.  I do not have someone else on my payroll writing for me.  Actually, I am not even on my payroll.  These posts are pro bono for all you readers out there.

So, enjoy, accept my failure as a blogger and hopefully you will come back next week!!
