Read Other Blogs in Search for Inspiration

by Julie McElroy on January 27, 2010

A big role in being part of the blogosphere is knowing what blogs are already in existence, especially in your niche. Some blogs are very successful, while others are not. Not only is it important to see what else is being written in your niche, but it helps to get to know other bloggers. To become part of the blog community.

Goal Number Four: Read other blogs weekly daily to find inspiration.

"No man is an island," claimed Thomas Merton in his book of the same title. We all are intertwined and depend on each other, and this is true on the internet as well. When I first began my journey, I had a few people whose blogs really motivated me to become a freelance writer. I read their blogs, left comments, and asked for advice. Only by reading through these blogs did I have any idea of what I wanted to do, or how I wanted to go about this new venture.

Once I got busy with life's happenings, I barely had time to keep up on my own writing, much less read other blogs. Then I realized, a lot of my inspiration was missing. I could not find the inspiration to write and my blog was neglected, along with my other writing. This goal is intended to get me back into reading other blogs -- daily! To ignite that inspiration from reading other writer's posts.

Sometimes, when you are in a rut, it helps to read what others are writing about to stimulate creativity. It especially helps to read successful blogs. I have a few that are on my Reader that I make more effort to read and comment on these days. It is fun to be back, interacting with other bloggers. It has also helped motivate me to get back into the writing swing of things!
