I have mentioned that reading other blogs can provide inspiration for your writing. Sometimes a post in a blog can spark an idea in your mind. AHA! Or even looking at comments may generate thoughts that can lead you to writing a post. Another part of viewing other blogs is the opportunity to interact with other writers.
Important note: writers like readers!
It is as simple as that. Writers that post their work on the Internet actually want people to read it! I know -- it's crazy, yet seemingly obvious. I know there are some out there who flaunt their late night, umm... activities on Facebook and "not really" want people to read about it. But, with that exception, writers that publish articles or blog post, probably want people to read the material.
For reasons of pride, an ego boost or monetary value --again, I repeat -- writers like readers!
One way writers know they are getting readers is if comments are left on the post. This is a better indication that people took the time and actually READ the article/post/short story/poem than the page counter. While page counters and the like may show the author that their site had a visitor, it does not mean that person paused and took the time to actually read the material. We are all guilty of this. No one has time to read and comment on every site they pop in!
My goal is to start taking some time and reading posts and articles. And then take it one step further and leave comments. A thoughtful comment, which may produce dialogue and actually interaction with not only that author, but other writers/readers as well.
