From time to time, writers get stumped and can not fixate on that creative spot in the mind where ideas exist. That place where thoughts and words flow easily when the writer is in the 'zone'.
This is true for all writers - bloggers, fiction, free-lance, songwriter - anyone that requires the creative part of their mind to jump into the action. Sometimes, that part of the brain is just too tired to participate or is actually taking a break from the non-stop action that usually is happening in creative minds.
If you are having this problem as you attempt to begin writing, you may just require a little trigger to unleash that creativity. Below are a few websites that can help you release the creativity and break down writers block.
- Imagination Prompt Generator - Great prompts that generate a phrase or question in which you can elaborate and turn into a blog post or just to trigger that creativity in your mind.
- For Bloggers - Mind Bump is a place where bloggers can post an introduction, question, or phrase to help trigger thoughts for the stumped blogger. The cool thing is the prompt will also provide a link back to your blog!
- One Word - The motto is 'don't think, just write'. After you hit 'Go', one word will appear and you have 60 seconds to write and submit your text. Really good for free-flow thoughts.
- Ignite your creativity with Creative Writing Prompts - Hundreds of ideas that are more geared towards story tellers, but can be useful for certain blogs as well.
- The Story Starter - Provides just that, starters for a story or novel with one sentence. The sentences are descriptive and not typical, so your creative juices will really get flowing.
- Sometimes you may have an idea, but can not formulate the right words. Believe it or not, it can be helpful to just reference a Thesaurus to find the right word or words which can then trigger a waterfall of ideas.
Ideas can come from a variety of other places, too. There are other prompts that can help that are not specifically designed as prompts. Creative ideas can come from a news article, a conversation, a inspirational quote, someone else's question, another blogger's post, etc.
The above websites are a great place to begin. If none of these sites help, your creative mind may be in a deeper slumber than you thought and may not wish to be disturbed. If this happens, go for a walk, it is not the right time yet.
